Data Analytics Platform

The purpose of the Defense Readiness Reporting Systems (DRRS) and Data Analytics Platform Project was to create a solution architecture and plan of action to transition the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. (DRRS’) to DRRS-Strategic (DRRS-S). The plan aimed to deliver a method for viewing Readiness metrics across Services. The plan was delivered to the Secretary of Personnel and Readiness (USD P&R), which included application resources, authoritative data source (ADS) systems, ad hoc queries, business intelligence, data analytics, and visualization tools.

Square One Technologies Inc assisted with the solution architecture and transition plan, which included an assessment of current state platforms to identify redundancies that offered opportunities for consolidation on DRRS-S. Three functional areas were assessed to support the transition to DRRS-S, which included a review of application resources, authoritative data source (ADS) systems, ad hoc queries, business intelligence, data analytics, and visualization tools. Also, data governance processes were implemented, and industry-lead project management practices were included in the plan to de-risk program execution. Consideration to reduce uncertainty in resource planning was important to understand the balance of roles and responsibilities between the Services and the implementation team, test requirements and procedures, data migration work, and front-end changes. Technical and application-level architecture implications were outlined in the transition plan. It illustrated the current state solution and the future state full-stack architecture.
